Our Projects

Since 2017, we have accomplished various projects in the Putumayo region. Our first projects were the health brigades, a highly successful initiative to send life-saving medical and botanical support to the community members in Putumayo. We are now expanding our capacity to help more people in the region with different needs. We focus on three main needs: individual care, cultural preservation, and land stewardship.

Musical Roots Recovery Project:

Progress:$0
$0

GOAL: $20,000

This project focuses on the indigenous youth of Putumayo. Each year, more and more of the culture is lost as less young people follow in the footsteps of their ancestors. Through this project, the children involved will receive music lessons in traditional flutes, guitar, percussion, and singing from three of the most established musicians from their communities. The children will be gifted instruments to continue their studies and be able to contribute to the continuation of their culture.

Planting Magic:

Progress:$0
$0

GOAL: $20,000

Our biggest endeavor yet, Planting Magic is an initiative we started to buy, plant, and steward 10 hectares of land in the Amazon region. This land is our homebase in the Amazon and the heart of our organization for in-person gatherings, community events, and cultural exchanges. We have planted hundreds of species of plants, trees, flowers, and fruits. All of these are native to the region and endangered. Due to the nature of this project, it will be continuous and evolving each year.

Ingano Language School:

Progress:$0
$0

GOAL: $35,000

One of the main native tribes of the region, the Ingano people have been stewards and inhabitants of the land for thousands of years. Descendants of the Incas, the Inga people have passed down their traditions of botany and healing from generation to generation. With the loss of many cultural practices, we see that there are few people now that really speak the native tongue. To lose ancient languages is to lose a way that we interact with and speak to nature and Spirit. With this pressing need, we have been tasked with helping create the Ingano Language School. This project will put Inga children through an Ingano traditional school so that they may learn about their culture and native tongue and preserve it in their families for many generations to come.

Family Emergency Fund

Progress:$0
$0

GOAL: $70,000

Every day, Taita Juan is asked by a member of one of  indigenous tribes to help with an abuelo/abuela, or to help build bathrooms, or to help children attend school, or to help a family that has just experienced a great loss. We would like to create a fund so that when these minimal, yet important, requests come in, he has the means to meet them with ease.

Health Brigades:

Progress:$0
$0

GOAL: $30,000

Over the course of the years, we have done 3 health brigades. In the native communities, health issues are increasingly prevalent due to pollution from the outside world. We are seeing a surge in issues such as malnutrition, diabetes, liver and kidney diseases, cardiovascular issues, anemia, pulmonary disease, parasites, and the list goes on.These mobile clinics have provided natural healthcare to each community, while also imparting health education and awareness to further reclaim their own self-care.

Upcoming this year: A fourth health brigade will be held this year with a specific focus on women’s healthcare. We will be providing moon cups/underwear and botanical remedies that treat anything from issues in the menstrual cycle, to reproductive health, to menopause imbalances.
